Job Description

Due to internal restructure, our client, a reputable and forward thinking property membership organisation based in Warwick are seeking a Press Officer to join their team. Our clients PR work is evolving, presenting an exciting opportunity to join a growingteam. You will be working in a face-paced role supporting the Public Relations, Press and Media Manager to liaise with national, international and industry media outlets. You will be supporting the creation of positive and relevant narratives for public consumption,working closely with the Policy team and Marketing and Communications team.Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop strong relationships with national, internationaland sectorjournalists to deliver impactful coverage of the organisations work.
  • Respond quickly and sensitively to negative narratives, minimising risk to the organisations relationships and reputation.
  • Liaising with media contacts in a structured way (weekly calls, updates etc regarding press campaigns, creative projects, and wider marketing activity.
  • Assisting with lobbying Government, MPs, AMs, MSPs and other relevant parties on issues affecting the property industry.
  • Proactively sourcing and creating case studies to support policy and research
  • Drafting comments and press releases.
  • Creating persuasive and engaging written content to support campaign messaging and wider external affairs. Writing lines to support the creation of articles for use across the companieschannels.
  • Working with the Marketing Communications team and Chief Executives to articulate policy positions to influence key stakeholders.
  • Attending internal and external sector meetings and presenting as appropriate.
Education / experience:
  • Demonstratable experience of working with media to secure coverage
  • Knowledge of media cycle including broadcast, print and digital
  • Ability to adapt communication style and method based on audience
  • Working knowledge of legislative processes and procedures, preferably across the UK
  • Experience of managing stakeholder relationships
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Crisis communications experience desirable but not essential
