Contract: PermanentSalary: £42,700 - £47,048 (National) / £46,200 - £53,324 (London Allowance)Working Pattern: This post is available on a full time, part time or job share basis, and flexible working hours can be accommodated.About the Government Internal Audit AgencyThe Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA) provides an impactful internal audit service, delivering a large programme of annual risk-based assurance reviews across a diverse range of government departments, including 15 main departments and most of theirrelated arm’s length bodies. Supporting our customers to meet their objectives, roles at this level present a fascinating and motivating challenge.About the rolesWe are looking for senior auditors to join our Audit Response team (ART), and our customer-facing teams.These are ideal opportunities to explore your potential working in roles and teams where you can build on your skills to empower your future career. You will be collaborating with fellow professionals and will have access to an unparalleled customer baseof government organisations that deliver a fascinating spectrum of services for the UK public.Audit Response (ART)You will collaborate with our customer-facing and specialised audit teams to deliver a portfolio of audit work for an interesting range of our customers. As a member of our ART team, you will be supported through bespoke development programmes designed tomaximise your skills and to help ensure that your professional knowledge is up to date. High-performing and highly supportive colleagues will also empower you to enhance and enrich your skills set and professional knowledge.Customer facing audit teamsYou will be working with a tailored focus on a specific customer to develop a deep and detailed understanding of their business objectives, their purpose, their service delivery, and the challenges and risks they face. Crucial to this role is your abilityto work with people and to build trusted working relationships.What you will bring to the rolesOur senior auditors are very much the public face of GIAA, acting as valued ambassadors, and providing essential day-to-day contact for our customers.With access to high profile work, you will work alongside key decision makers, audit specialists and other colleagues across the Agency to ensure that we meet our customers’ expectations and deliver high quality work whilst enhancing your skills as an auditprofessional.Your ability to keep on building effective relationships with all your stakeholders in parallel with delivering high-quality, efficient, and robust audit work is essential. This will be complemented by:

  • Being an effective team member, supporting wider GIAA objectives by working constructively and flexibly with colleagues to deliver quality outcomes.
  • Managing your own time and resource in an accountable, effective and efficient way; anticipating, identifying, and taking ownership of any issues that could impact on the successful completion your work and your team’s objectives by proposing timely optionsand potential solutions to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Completing accurate, clear, and useful audit reports that can empower our customers to take necessary and effective actions.
  • Taking personal responsibility for delivering your portfolio of audits, working simultaneously on multiple assignments, possibly for different customers, delivering to budget and quality expectations, complying with our agreed GIAA methodology, and usingour internal audit software system.
  • Scoping audit assignments, including drafting the terms of reference, testing strategies, fieldwork plans, reporting timetables, and focussing your work on identified risks, in line with our methodology.
Experience is as valuable as qualifications are for these roles.To be eligible to apply, you will need to demonstrate that you:
  1. Are already a partly, or fully qualified auditor or accountant, and
  2. Have substantial experience in an audit setting, or a related profession or discipline such as inspection, quality assurance, governance, risk management, or compliance.
