Ackworth School is seeking to appoint a Head of Learning Support. Due to increased numbers of pupils who have special educational needs, and an expanding Autism Resource, we are looking to bring all of these elements together in order to work more collaboratively.Weare looking for someone who has an in depth knowledge of SEN; a real expert in their field. You may have worked in a large school, and be an experienced SENCO, delivering a strategy for learning support that evidences real progress and supports those pupilswho are hard to engage with. Alternatively, you may have real specialist experience in a smaller resource working with pupils with ASD who receive tailored support at all times. At Ackworth we centre on learning and making progress. We are not about behaviourmanagement, and whilst it would be relevant experience, our focus is on education and helping our pupils to achieve the very best they can. This post will involve being hands on and supporting pupils. You will be supported by a small team of Learning SupportMentors, within the senior school, who work with specific pupils.The Autism Resource is a dedicated facility, within the main senior school, and is managed by a department head. As the Head of Learning Support you will oversee this department and ensure thatit is part of the overall inclusion strategy for the whole school. This is a permanent position from January 2022.
