Job Description

Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is a subsidiary of the Boeing Company and currently employs over 1,200 people in the UK. BDUK is responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to our UK defence customers including E-7 AEW&C, P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, C4ISR Services, and Through Life Support for the Chinook & Apache Fleets, Logistic Information Services and Training Services.We are looking for an Aerospace Engineering Data Exploitation Intern (DE)/Data Analytics (DA) Intern to be assigned to support the UK Chinook and other aircraft types. Based in Gosport, Hampshire, the individual will report to the Integrated Logistics Support Manager through the Data Exploitation (DE) Lead.Position Responsibilities:Working within Engineering & Supportability, primarily attached to the Technical Data Exploitation Team on assignments and tasks associated with effectively supporting the Chinook and other aircraft types as they come under contract, this normally requires multiple skill sets to be applied.Accordingly, the placement would likely fit best with someone who wishes to experience a wide range of disciplines rather than a specific individual specialism. Work areas within the Engineering & Support Team are as follows

  • Integrated Logistics Support
  • Technical Data Exploitation
  • Reliability Centered Maintenance Analysis
  • Logistic Support Analysis
  • Technical Publications
  • You will coordinate, integrate and execute DE/DA functionsActivities to provide in-service support to technical queries data requests
  • Ensure sustainment predominantly of Boeing Chinooks all Mks, including Engines, for the United Kingdoms Royal Air Force.
  • The successful candidate will also be called upon to support other aircraft DE/DA activity as capability develops.

  • Field Service Representative Technical Support
  • Systems Engineering
  • Maintenance Review Board Engineering
  • Configuration Management
  • Safety Engineering
    • Depending on the projects and tasks being worked on at the time there will be the opportunity to assist with real time activities running through the office; these are likely to be involved with engineering, maintenance and support for all marks of UK Chinook aircraft. Depending on the students need and project requirements, sometime will be spent working in the various work areas learning how Boeing undertakes Engineering and Supportability of the Chinook in-service, and for modification and upgrade programmes, a block of time will also be allocated to a specific project. The project that will be selected will be associated with aircraft technical data, engineering support, technical queries/problems, RCM/ILS analysis and support product development, or a suitable continuous improvement project and may be tailored to the interns specific requirements whilst fitting with the overall company requirementsEmployer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Progressing through an Engineering based degree
    • Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • At least 1 full year into degree, prefer 2 years completed by summer 2021
    • Typical Education & Experience:
  • A levels in science and Maths, good grades in university modules completed to date
