An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the SIHMDS at the Hammersmith Hospital as a Consultant Clinical Scientist, to start as soon as possible. This post is ideal for a Haematologist or Haematopathologist with expertise in morphological evaluation of peripheral blood and bone marrow aspirate specimens, flow-cytometry analysis and interpretation and in integrated diagnosis.Applicants should be on the Specialist Register for either haematology or haematopathology, or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview. Or Consultant Clinical Scientist with FRCPathThe successful candidate will join an enthusiastic, dynamic and friendly team of clinical scientists and consultants in the SIHMDS at the Hammersmith Hospital site. The post-holder’s primary responsibilities will be the interpretation of blood film morphology and bone marrow aspirates, the analysis and interpretation of flow cytometry data, the interpretation of cytogenetics and molecular tests, and for providing integrated diagnostic reports. The diagnostic work will include specimens from all Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust sites, Chelsea Westminster Hospitals and from many other hospitals who refer their patient samples to our service.This is a laboratory-based role, as such there is no on-call commitment and a degree of remote working is possible with prior agreement.The postholder will be a key participant in multidisciplinary meetings, and is expected to contribute to teaching and training of junior staff and across the department.
