Job Description

A rapidly growing and acquisitive insurer seeks a Head of Management Accounts and Planning who can deputise for the CFO in relation to the broking entities. With £40m of revenue and growing the Broking entities are the corner stone of the group delivering the distribution capabilities that benefit the wider companies within the Group.Reporting to the Group CFO and responsible for leading a team of 9, the successful candidate will be the go to’ person for all things financial associated with the various broking entities. This is a role that will appeal to someone who responds positively to change; change both driven by the business and by the individual as they look to improve the reporting, planning and business support provided by the management account team.To be considered for this opportunity you will be ACA/ACCA or CIMA qualified with a minimum of 5 years PQE and will have held senior finance roles within insurance or insurance broking.The successful candidate will have the flexibility to work from home 3 days per week with 2 days per week required at either the Cwmbran office or the Sundridge office.Key accountabilities of the role as its stands are:

  • Lead the preparation of Group monthly management accounts and submit to Group as per the timetable.
  • Ensure those accounts are prepared in accordance with current accounting standards and group policy.
  • Produce appropriate variance analysis covering actuals / forecasts / budgets.
  • Lead the business heads in the preparation of annual budgeting and adhoc forecasting.
  • Ensure those plans are underpinned by the appropriate drivers of performance and PY’s are bridged.
  • Sit on the Finance Executive representing the broking businesses.
  • Attend and contribute to the key broking meeting e.g. pricing / broking exec and monthly results.
  • Management of the relationship with the key broking personal ensuring they receive the necessary support.
  • Liaise as required with the Group Head of Transactional services to ensure the broking SLAs are being met.
  • Work with the Group FC to adopt (and share) best practise and maintain consistency of reporting.
  • Work with the CFO to develop improved MI across the broking businesses.
  • Work with the Head of MI/BI to deliver best in class reporting on the respective broking products.
  • Manage and develop the direct team of 4 people.
  • Ensure robustness and adherence to group policies regarding onboarding of new insurers.
  • Be the key point of contact for all capital projects ensuring the projects are sound with the necessary business cases prepared (a key deliverable for 2021/2022 given the large investments planned)
  • Support group M&A initiatives.
  • Management of bad debt, both the internal team (5 people) and the external relationships with third parties.
