Job Description

Reed are working with a Special school in North Cardiff, seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join them on a full time, long-term basis from January 2023.Our client is a specialist provision, for pupils with additional learning needs arising from Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD). Catering for primary aged children, the school has just under 50 pupils. Each class has a high staff-pupilratio, with at least 1 teacher and 2 TA’s in each class.Pupils have additional barriers to learning, including ADHD, ASD, ODD and mental health difficulties. Therefore, it is important you have experience as well as an understanding for the type of pupils you would be supporting, as both excellent de-escalationand behaviour management techniques will be required to encourage their engagement and participation in learning. The school are a welcoming, respectful, and compassionate learning community where all citizens are empowered to realise their potential in a challenging, aspirational and supportive environment, to develop into responsible citizens.Their community of children, parents, relatives, staff and other local community groups work closely together to ensure that our children learn in an environment where they are filled with joy, confidence, self-belief and feel safe to try new experiencesand explore concepts of learning in a deeper way.We are looking for candidates that have experience working around the mental health space, ideally you would have worked in a school environment before but the schools are equally open to welcoming care/support workers. The schools are wonderful places towork as the teams there are very proud of the incredibly important work they do there in supporting children who desperately need it. It’s incredibly rewarding! The role of LSA involves providing general classroom support to students across a range of different subjects (you do not need to specialise in any particular subject) as well as specific 1-1 support, this can often be with students that have SEMH/ADHD.To be a successful LSA working with these students you must be enthusiastic, kind, caring, patient and passionate. If you believe you tick these boxes and want to make a genuine difference in these children’s lives – we’d love to hear from you!The role will be Monday to Friday, £80-90 per day (dependent on experience) term time only. This is a temporary, long term opportunity starting in January 2023 (with the potential to go permanent). All applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, full registration process, including 5 years of referencing and registration with the Education Workforce Council. If this opportunity is something you would like to discuss further, please click APPLY NOW or contact the office directly on .
