ESG Assistant (Graduate Opportunity)Belfast or LiverpoolThe Company W&R Barnett is the holding company of a diversified group of international commodity trading, storage, agribusiness and industrial companies, a fourth generation family business committed to growing and investing in successful operating businesses and theiremployees.This role will provide internal support across our Commodity Trading Divisions, Barnett-Hall and United Molasses Group.Barnett - Hall is a joint account between W&R Barnett Trading and R&H Hall Trading. So, if you’re ready to step into a role with two great and growing companies, we cannot wait to hear from you.The Role As an ESG Assistant, you will support our Sustainability Managers in developing consistent environmental, social and governance strategies across our Barnett – Hall and United Molasses divisions.Undertaking a consistent approach across the divisions, you will attend ESG-related meetings with a prepared agenda, drive energy awareness and behavioural change, and devise energy reduction programmes.Over time, it is envisaged that you will become a key member of the ESG Committees. You will develop ESG policies, support the preparation of reports, and drive stakeholder engagement, seeking continuous improvement in ESG management systems.Additionally, you will:- Help to monitor and record emissions- Work with 3rd parties to help identify Climate Change Risks and opportunities- Improve ESG content on websites- Help to develop a Net-Zero Strategy About YouTo be considered as an ESG Assistant, you will need: - At a minimum, a first class or upper-second class BSc. degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject- A high degree of literacy, numeracy, interpersonal and presentational skills- The ability to produce and deliver presentations- The ability to manage complexity and prioritise work across two business units- The ability to build effective cross-functional relationships- The ability to build credibility with others, with influencing skills- Benchmarking and research ability - Data processing, analysis and interpretation ability - Computer skills in word processing, graphics, web searching, Excel data handling, interpretation and presentation- Excellent communication skills, in both written and verbal English- Flexibility, for national and international travel- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail- Relevant work experience may be an advantageOther organisations may call this role Graduate ESG Assistant, Graduate Environmental Sustainability Assistant, Graduate Net Zero Programme Assistant, Graduate Sustainability Energy and Compliance Assistant, Climate Change Assistant, or Environmental ImpactAssistant.
