Job Description

Do you have experience working within a busy kitchen and want to use this to help make a difference to the lives of othersDeputy Chef Managers take responsibility for the day to day operation of the catering services by preparing, cooking and serving nutritional, good quality and well-presented meals to meet the dietary requirements and preferences of the residents. They will also be given development opportunities to deputise for the Chef Manager when required.Whilst experience for this role is important, we want to employ people who are caring, understanding and who want to make mealtimes for elderly people positive and enjoyable experiences.Although food plays a huge part in this role, you will be working in an open environment where teamwork is key and you have the opportunity to build relationships with our residents.In this role you will:

  • Ensure a safe working environment through observation and implementation of Health and Safety regulations and environmental health directives, in order to meet statutory and departmental requirement
  • Ensure that catering equipment is fully functional by regular checks / maintenance in order to maintain efficient delivery of the service and organise, implement and monitor a regular cleaning schedule
  • Will set up and monitor catering systems through menu planning, ordering and stock control, to ensure the most cost-effective use of resources
  • Supervise and train Catering Assistants in all aspects of kitchen work by allocating and monitoring duties, as necessary, in order to provide a high- quality catering service
  • Check deliveries are of an acceptable quality and relay this information to the Chef Manager, as appropriate, to ensure that poor quality foodstuffs are not accepted by the home
  • Our care services operate 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
