Job Description

Please only apply for this position if you are currently a Business Development Manager / Sales Manager within Contract Logistics. Reporting to the Contract Logistics UK Managing Director, the BDM is responsible for developing and implementing commercial strategies according to company goals and objectives aiming to accelerate growth.They are responsible for promoting the whole portfolio of GEODIS Contract Logistics targeting and building a pipeline based around new business opportunities to ensure business growth and to deliver service excellence and total customer satisfaction.Dimensions and Quantitiesreports, dotted line and direct reportsReporting to: UK Managing Director - Contract LogisticsKey Activities / Accountabilities

  • Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, business development etc...)
  • Generate and qualify new business opportunities, by using their sales skills, planning and relationship management whilst using commercial acumen.
  • Manage a variety of new business opportunities that have either been created by the central marketing team or have been self-generated.
  • Meet and exceed new business sales targets, in revenue and gross profit.
  • Achieve number of proposals and meetings target.
  • Produce a plan to achieve these sales targets, whilst using the GEODIS reporting tools.
  • Ensure activity is recorded in the CRM system accurately and against agreed standards and timescales
  • Work on own initiative and ensure all reporting processes are satisfied to the company standard.
  • Team work within the existing Sales and Customer Services teams.
  • Develop relationships across the Company Business Units, whilst at the same time identifying opportunities that will contribute to the sales target.
  • Meet and exceed company standard expectations, such as call rate and pipeline expectations
  • Collaborate closely UK Operations and other colleagues to ensure new client onboarding is seamless.
  • Drive the Mission, Vision and Values and Leadership Principles into the team to provide direction and set behavioural standards within the work environment.
  • Work in partnership and collaboratively with all Head Office functions to support operational efficiencies.
  • Adhere to and respect policies and processes that are in place.
  • Work as an ambassador for the organisation within the UK promoting service, image, brand and values.
