Job Description

Are you a procurement specialist looking for a new opportunity Do you enjoy the art of negotiating Want to work for a successful global business If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you! My client, a market-leading vehicle cleaning and hygiene products manufacturer, is currently recruiting an Assistant Buyer to join their fun and friendly team based in Lichfield.Benefits:

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct Supplier engagement & management, including supply agreement administration, handling delivery and invoice queries, checking that suppliers have received all the purchase orders that have been placed and that they can meet the delivery requirements.
  • Collect procurement data for monthly department performance monitors and update excel spreadsheets, including tracking deliveries, monitoring savings and raw material price movements, in line with business objectives.
  • Work with ERP (IFS) and various in-house databases to input stock and carry out stock transfers and adjustments.
  • Purchase requisition and purchase order processing, including placing orders from approved requisitions, raising credit card orders and reconcile monthly statements, and investing and resolving invoice queries from other departments, especially production.
  • Order stationery & raise orders for non-production related items (from authorised purchase requisitions)
  • File order confirmations and delivery notes
  • Support project work as required, may require collection of data & information electronically.
  • Manage regular trawls of information from suppliers ensuring that Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) records are up to date.
  • Order generation & fulfilment (expediting), including document verification.
  • Request For Quote (RFQ) administration
  • Negotiation under supervision
  • Supplier analysis and assessment under supervision
  • Primary assessment of cost impact of procurement decisions to the business
Skills and Experience:
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Accurate data entry skills & excellent attention to detail
  • Needs to be very thorough & organised.
  • Numerate & analytical
  • Excellent IT skills including working knowledge of MS Office and Sage 1000 (or similar ERP)
  • Self-motivated & excellent time management skills
  • Able to liaise and communicate with people at all levels and establish working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to work under pressure, prioritise workload and have the confidence to ask for help when needed.
  • Adopt a positive attitude, willing to assist others.
  • GCSE qualifications, or equivalent, in Maths and English grade C or above
  • Ideally 3+ years experience within purchasing and/or supply-chain environment
  • Experience of drafting correspondence
  • Experience of effective communication with suppliers and customers
  • Working knowledge of IFS or another ERP system
