Job Description

Position: Warehouse Co-ordinators - 3 Posts (Full time)

  • 1 x Based at Birmingham B7, Nechells
  • 1 x Based at Leicester LE18, South Wigston
  • 1 x Based at Nottingham NG7, Lenton
Reports to: Regional Ops ManagerSalary: £18,525 pa Hours: 37.5 hours/week. 5 days standard which may include Saturday on a rota basis. Flexibility to work Saturdays and provide cover for planned & ad-hoc absences and Bank Holidays is requiredBase: FareShare Midlands operates from various sites. You will be flexible regarding location, but will be allocated a main contractual base at either Nechells, Birmingham or South Wigston, Leicester or Lenton, Nottingham.Summary of Role PurposeWe are embarking on a period of significant growth & change. As Warehouse Co-ordinator you will have responsibility for the co-ordination of our food stock, from goods-in to picking, dispatch and stock rotation. Working closely with the wider Fareshare Midlandsteam and volunteers, you will support the monitoring and utilisation of warehouse space, stock, deliveries and collections to ensure food reaches its destination amongst our members safely, on time and in full.You will be the face of FareShare, supported by a large team of volunteers to ensure our stock is accurate on our bespoke IT system (Gladys), and that stock rotation is maintained. You will also support your team leader in ensuring this team follows H&Sand Food Safety standards set out in the FareShare policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all our colleagues & visitors, and the safe receipt of food by all our charity members. Some of the team may have learning disabilities, as we aim to offer employabilityand training opportunities for all members of our community, and your role will include supporting & coaching all our valuable volunteers and staff members.Like the supply of surplus food to FareShare no two shifts are the same. Every day new food arrives and your team-mates will include new people including corporate volunteers who want to get involved in the FareShare mission. You will be part of a smallstaff team responsible for ensuring the safe and effective distribution of food each day.Main Duties/Responsibilities
  • Get to know your team and respond to questions about FareShares mission, the food partners who support us, charities who receive food and the planned activities for the day
  • Work as a team with the Warehouse Team Leader / Supervisor, warehouse colleagues, and volunteers to ensure all shifts are well planned, supervised and meet daily operational & safety needs
  • Be responsible for the accuracy of all stock on the system, from booking-in to allocation and stock counts
  • Support the Warehouse Team leader / supervisor in dealing with our charity members where necessary, either over the phone or face-to-face when sorting collections
  • You and your team will be responsible for booking in food onto the food management system, managing stock accuracy & quality
  • Provide leadership and guidance for regular volunteers and corporate volunteer groups, ensuring they follow all policies and procedures, high standards of accuracy are maintained and their volunteer experience is a satisfying one.
  • Maintain excellent relations and communications with volunteers, staff, food suppliers and charities
  • Support the Volunteer Manager in ensuring all volunteers have a valuable and rewarding experience whilst supporting FareShare, taking responsibility for the safety of volunteers
  • Provide or update data and review KPIs and reports to identify issues and opportunities for the daily reviews, which you will attend when on shift
  • You will be required to drive a fork lift truck as part of the role, and an up-to-date license will be desirable although full training and coaching will be provided.
Skills/ExperienceDesirable Experience
  • Experience of working in a warehouse environment, preferably with food
  • Experience of working with individuals who may feel vulnerable or need support
  • No major endorsements on licence such as DR, DG or IN. Successful candidates will have a full clean UK driving licence (6 points or less will be considered)
  • Previous multi-drop experience is preferred however not essential.
  • Also the role requires manually loading stock into a van (up to 20/30kg) and unload each delivery
  • A good geographical knowledge of the County and surrounding area would be helpful.

  • Good organisational skills including attention to detail, an ability to prioritise and meet deadlines working with own team

Qualifications
  • Up-to-date Fork lift truck & driving license, train provided
  • IT literacy, in particular of using Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word)
  • Sound numeracy skills
  • Qualifications in Food Hygiene, Health & Safety as it applies to food distribution (or if not it is essential that you have the commitment to training in these areas)
