Job Description

Trade Compliance OfficerTo develop, implement and manage the import / export trade compliance function according to import/export regulations and company policy. This role demands that you have extensive import and export trade expertise.Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring effective import/export compliance in accordance with domestic and foreign import and export laws and regulations
  • Mentor and support appropriate management accountability and responsibility for import/export compliance.
  • Establish and maintain import/export compliance procedures and program documentation
  • Product export classification and regulatory jurisdiction, licensing and administration, denied party, proliferation and diversion screening, technology transfers, deemed exports, anti-boycott reporting, trade data points including HTS classification, countryof origin and FTA determination, valuation, etc., broker and forwarder management, record keeping, audits and training
  • Prepare and submit license applications, international permits, technical assistance agreements and other request for licenses and approvals to the appropriate Government Agencies
  • Administer export licensing program and ensure compliance
  • Conduct licensing reviews for technology transfers, including marketing materials, proposals and engineering data, develop and maintain technology transfer program
  • Compliance liaison with sales representatives, distributors, customers and other third parties
  • Review Customs entries for accuracy and compliance with customs regulations
  • Provide quarterly and yearly reporting of relevant trade compliance data to CITC
  • Deliver compliance training for senior management, engineers, shipping, sales and marketing etc.
  • Conduct audits and implement corrective action
  • Assist Corporate Legal - International Trade Compliance Office with investigations of any incidences of purported non-compliance with import and export laws and regulations
  • Attend the Corporate International Trade Compliance annual conference
  • Attend external third-party import and export training seminars as required
Essential Experience
  • Experience within Engineering/Manufacturing environment
  • Expert in Customs regulations for import/export compliance, policies, documentation and processes
  • HTS and HMRC Customs Procedure Codes
  • Free Trade Agreements
  • Export controls as they apply to general commercial product lines
  • Compliance audits would be advantageous
Specific Export Controls Experience
  • Working knowledge in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • Export Administration Regulations, Customs Regulations
  • Able to apply technical knowledge of regulations to business transactions
  • Experience with automated denied party screening systems
  • UK Government on-line license application procedures strongly preferred
