Job Description

SUMMARYOur fantastic client are looking for a new IT superstar to drive growth in the web development division. The role will be pivotal in driving technical best practice as well as project delivery best practice to ensure that the solutions they deliver to their clients are both effective and on budget. This person will have hands on experience of a wide range of web technologies and solutions and have delivered projects with a range of methodologies and a clear idea of how to apply these to a development team of 30+ people. This role will report to the Operations Director and sit on the departmental management team who shape the future growth strategies of our technical development services.RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Develop skills assessments and the implementation of training and development plans

  • Responsible for the selection, proposition, provision of training and practical application of technology within the web engineering function (and associated services, such as DevOps) to enable the company to achieve its objectives
  • Outlining future technical strategies and the goals for research and development
  • Works with senior service leads across the business to ensure our approach to costing and scope definition for website development projects are commercially viable
  • Implementation and delivery of agile processes
  • Contributes to effective operational delivery and standardization of service delivery models within web development (and associated teams).
  • Report into the executive team on progress against core programs of work and efficacy of investment, decisioning and future plans.
  • Audits core development processes and periodically runs through them to refine and remove waste to iteratively improve the running of the business
  • Identifies need for new tooling and/or process to improve efficiency
  • Ensuring that the appropriate risk assessments are made when introducing new information and operational technology into the organisation

  • REQUIREMENTS
  • Proven experience as Technical Director or similar leadership role
  • Proven development experience and implementation knowledge of web and ecommerce technologies. We are currently based on primarily .NET technologies (Episerver, Kentico and Umbraco) and utilise a range of front-end development technologies
  • Demonstrable experience of the management and evolution of development teams and development architecture/solutions strategy
  • Demonstrable experience of inspiring and leading development teams working within or transitioning to an agile methodology
  • Detailed knowledge of IT, software architecture and technological trends to define product development and technological strategy
  • Understanding of business planning and budgets
  • Excellent communicational, leadership and organisational skills
