Job Description

As a Senior Media Relations Manager, you will lead on all media relations, PR, and reputation management. You will help design and implement media relations plans working with various external senior stakeholders to build effective media relationships.Client DetailsUK Infrastructure BankAre the new, government-owned policy bank - launched in June 2021 - providing £22bn of infrastructure finance and partnering with the private sector and local government to finance a green industrial revolution and drive growth across the country.DescriptionThe key responsibilities of the Senior Media Relations Manager will include but not be limited to:

  • You will lead on the PR, corporate communications, reputation management and help to drive the strategy around PR and Communications.
  • Help to build and maintain effective relationships with key journalists and influencers in national, regional and trade press, responding to and managing flow of media queries and pro-actively briefing journalists
  • Monitor and evaluate media coverage of the organisation, preparing regular reports for internal and external stakeholders to inform opportunities to mitigate reputational damage and maximise opportunities to support the strategic plans
  • Identify opportunities to enhance media relations through events and contribute to the organisation, development and implementation of events and briefings for press and stakeholders to support the overall media relations strategy and strategic priorities
  • Create and deliver advice, guidance, coaching and support for colleagues across the business to effectively undertake effective media relations engagement activity e.g. interview and press briefings, to support strategic priorities and mitigate reputationrisk
  • Develop effective media relations campaigns in support of the overall strategy, identifying business initiatives which help to tell the organisations story, proactively generating positive press coverage and tailoring materials and messaging to work acrosstraditional, online and social channels as required.
ProfileThe successful candidate will have:You will have a proven track record working as an ex-journalist with expertise working as a senior media relations and PR professional. You would have worked in a regulated environment and worked across broad communications. You would have worked in a complexenvironment with a number of stakeholders
  • Significant experience of working at a senior level in a corporate media relations role, within a complex environment and for a business with high profile stakeholders
  • Experience working with a broad range of journalists and influencers, with the ability to build strong and enduring relationships.
  • A proven track record of securing positive media coverage, including pro-actively and independently developing media stories
  • Outstanding writing skills and the ability to tailor messaging to a variety of audiences and assimilate and communicate complex information in an accessible manner
  • Experience working within a broader communications team whereby campaigns are integrated for media, stakeholder and internal audiences
