We are seeking to employ a full time Science Technician. You will work closely with Science Teachers to support the work of staff and students in the Colleges laboratories and classrooms where necessary. You will join a busy and successful Science Division.***Support the whole child and teach more than just the national curriculum***Work in state of the art facilities***Join a team with excellent leadership and fantastic teamworkThis role requires you:To provide assistance and information as required in the preparation of resources for practical lessons that meet both the Health and Safety standards and College requirementsTo provide general assistance in the safe storage, transit and accessibility of resourcesTo assist the technician team to ensure a healthy, safe and productive work environment through the routine and maintenance of, cleaning of equipment, laboratories and prep roomsDuties include:Prepare solutions materials, cultures for living organismsAssemble apparatusObtain materials by local purchase, trialling practical activitiesCarry out risk assessments for technical activitiesAssisting in practical classesConstructing and modifying apparatusEnsure that stock levels are maintained and future requirements are identifiedEnsure the availability of suitable resourcesCompile orders and to liaise with suppliers and finance departments as/when requiredDelivery of equipment and materials and organisms to roomsCollection of, checking and returning resources to storesMaintaining resources, including routine repairsKeep up to date with Health and Safety requirementsCaring for plants and animalsOrganising and storing resourcesGeneral cleaning of laboratory bench surfaces and fixed equipmentCleaning laboratory sinks, used equipmentDisposal of/treating waste materials in line with current guidelinesChecking deliveriesProvide first aid and attend appropriate training as necessaryAbout The SchoolThe College is a unique learning community, with a distinct ethos.
