Job Description

Leeds City Council is one of the largest employers in West Yorkshire, with around 33,000 employees based over multiple sites. Reed Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with Leeds City Council providing them with all of their temporary staffingneeds.Reed currently have a number of excellent opportunities available to work within Leeds Building Services as a Joiner.Role - JoinerResponsible for both responsive and planned joinery services to a range of housing and non-housing properties and for ensuring all work is of a high standard and carried out in strict compliance with the health and safety at work act, and any other relevantlegislation covering safety in the workplace for self and othersAccountabilities:

  • Hang new doors to casings and fit all ironmongery and glazing
  • Maintain and repair doors and windows
  • Repair / renew kitchen units and worktops including pipework to sink unit
  • Plaster patch and tile
  • Fit bath frames and panels
  • Fit skirting board and architrave
  • Fit all types of guttering / fascia / soffits
  • Repair / renew garden fencing and gates
  • Repair / renew treads and kite winders
  • Fit floor boarding and joists
  • Make good to brickwork
  • Work in conjunction with allied trades on multi trade sites
  • Apply council values and abide by all relevant policies and procedures in particular those relating to equality, safeguarding and health and safety
Skills, Experience and Specialist Knowledge:
  • Carrying out the above work to a high quality standard
  • Communicating at all times in a tactful, courteous and patient manner
  • Understanding instructions, plans and drawings, producing, maintaining and administering records
  • Using a variety of tools and equipment including electrical and hand tools
Qualifications / Certificated Training:
  • Ideally NVQ or equivalent
  • Current valid UK driving licence
  • Working at height using scaffolding / portable staging ladders and other access equipment
  • Manual Handling
  • Asbestos Awareness
