Head of Commercial Finance£75k - £80k + Competitive Benefits + BonusRemoteFirst Bus are looking for a new Head of Commercial Finance!Working closely with our Business Development Director, you will maximise the financial performance and commercial growth of non-core / B2B activity across the First Bus business.You will be a key member of the central Business Development team, leading financial and commercial analysis, review and submission of all potential growth opportunities.We are looking for an individual who can work in a collaborative, supportive way, in order to establish strong and effective working relationships, allowing us to deliver our objectives and deliver high performance outputs.This is a remote role, with the requirement to travel across the UK in line with business need.Welcome to First BusHello. • Advising on the commercial strategy and developing the P&L and pricing for non-core / B2B opportunities, whilst managing commercial risk and mitigation
• Working closely with customers and colleagues to translate operational specification in to profitable, competitive proposals, ensuring seamless financial planning, reporting and governance
• Providing analytical insight into key decisions, identifying opportunities to maximise profitability and cash generation through benchmarking, both internal and external
• Through robust and detailed modelling of opportunities, providing viable and meaningful alternative scenarios, with clear evidence of impact and benefit to all stakeholders
• Providing the bridge to central Finance, ensuring alignment of data and modelling techniques
• Making informed recommendations to First Bus Executive team and Finance Leadership team
• Handover of contract commercials and financials to the in-life Contract Manager and central Finance Business Partner, providing appropriate financial support across contract term
• Working with existing customers and contracts, to refine solutions and identify commercial development opportunities that add value to all stakeholders
• Providing support to Business Unit MDs and SLTs through robust insight, guidance and challenge
• Building a wider repository of data and information to support decisions and improve efficiency
• Carrying out bespoke and ad-hoc financial analysis of tenders and bids across First Bus business

What are we looking for

• Commercially astute, with significant experience of working in a senior, business facing commercial / financial role, ideally within the public transport industry
• Proven background of developing financial and commercial practices across a large, cross-functional corporate environment
• Strong analytical and critical thinking / problem solving skills
• Adept at presenting financial information and risk to senior internal stakeholders that support and influence key decision making, whilst assuring appropriate level of governance
• Strong internal and external stakeholder management skills, with experience of working with customers and suppliers
• Self-starter, able to deliver to tight deadlines and prioritise workloads without compromising quality
• Tenacious, with a willingness to challenge the status-quo as required
• High integrity and builds trust at all levels
• Demonstrates leadership skills at a senior level including coaching and mentoring
• Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
• Committed to organisational confidentiality and supportive of equality issues across the business
• Preferred understanding of service delivery within service sectors / ground transportation markets
