Job Description

FirstBus are looking for a new Head of BusinessDevelopment!Working closely withourBusinessDevelopment Director, you will develop and deliver profitable growth opportunities in line with non-core / B2B strategy and wider businessexpectation.You will provide effective day to day management of the BusinessDevelopment function, primarilyour sales process, alongside supportingour local Business Units and Senior Leadership Teams (SLTs) to capitalise on opportunities for growth.We are looking for an individual who can work in a collaborative, supportive way in order to establish strong, effective working relationships, allowing us to deliver ourobjectives and deliver high performance outputs.This is a remote role, with the requirement to travel across the UK in line withbusiness need.Welcome to FirstBusHello.   • Developing and managing a comprehensive pipeline of opportunities across target markets
  • Pursuing and securing profitable B2B opportunities based on assessment of relevant criteria
  • Identifying new initiatives and innovative solutions to drive FirstBus revenue and profit growth
  • Managing the entire sales cycle to include leadgeneration and qualification, solution design, commercial modelling, negotiation, closure and contract mobilisation/handover to Business Unit
  • Collaboratingwith central and local teams in the development of commercial proposals e.g. Finance, Commercial, Legal, Procurement and specific local Business Unit functions
  • Developing and executing a focused contact strategy, engaging senior stakeholders across key markets
  • Supporting the businesswithdevelopment of future mobilitycapability and delivery, including progression of Mobility-as-a-Service, DRT and Future Transport Zone initiatives
  • Working with central teams and third-party mobility platforms/technology suppliers, to innovate B2B proposals and support inception of future operating models
  • Creating and maintaining a sharedrepository of bid intelligence and monitoring/recording relevant customer insight, competitoractivity and wider industry development
  • Attending events, conferences and exhibitions to promote the FirstBus brand and proposition
What are we looking for
  • Proven success in a senior businessdevelopment role, ideally within the public transport industry
  • Strong background of developing B2B relationships and consultative selling at a high level
  • Experience of full bid lifecycle and programme management in a matrix environment
  • In-depth knowledge of service sectors, preferably across ground transportation markets
  • Experience of delivering service innovation and transformation within a business
  • Commercial awareness and business acumen
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking / problem-solving skills
  • Experience of using analysis to drive businessdecisions
  • Ability to collaborate and influence key internal stakeholders and build effective relationships
  • Tenacious, with a willingness to challenge the status-quo as required
  • Graduate or equivalentbusinessqualification
