Job Description

CK Group are recruiting for a Synthetic Organic Chemist to join a chemicals manufacturing company at their site based near Knutsford on a full time, permanent basis.The Company:Our client manufactures and supplies advanced chemicals to a variety of industries. They are committed to research and development and now have a vacancy due to internal promotion. The successful Synthetic Organic Chemist will manage the daily activities andprojects within the chemistry R&D laboratory. The company offers a salary based on skills and experience (circa £20.000-£45,000) as well as a range of benefits.Location:The Synthetic Organic Chemist will be based at the companys site near Knutsford, easily commutable from surrounding areas such as Warrington, Manchester, Macclesfield, Crewe, Northwich, Chester and Runcorn.Your main duties will be:

  • To undertake all process laboratory reactions and studies which support the development of product
  • Recommend / Implement new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives; preparing proposals; developing and performing parallel testing; monitoring progress
  • To be a key stakeholder in the process development of products by ensuring productions processes are technically sound and efficient
  • To be of support to Production and Engineering Teams to provide technical and reaction chemistry information for successful running, maintenance, and or commissioning works and project
  • To undertake Trend Analysis for All Key Product Group
  • To be a key stakeholder in Production Trials to optimise cost, quality, yield, and output
  • Ensure Production & Laboratory Trials and experiments are fully documented and circulated
  • To be a key stakeholder in development of the Risk Assessment Process for Laboratory or Production Processes and the subsequent training to other staff
  • To be the process development lead for additional such projects the company wishes to start
Your Background:The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:
  • BSc or equivalent in Chemistry - essentia
  • Synthetic organic chemistry experience - gained in industry preferred
  • HPLC, GC, GCMS, LCMS experience preferre
  • Knowledge of Chemstation and Open Lab preferred
  • Technical knowledge of testing activities and standards within the Chemical industr
  • Understanding and knowledge of H&S procedures such as risk assessments, chemical handling, and confined space entry, etc.
