As a Barclays Lead Architect - Resilience, you will play an important role in architecting and developing enterprise scale applications on various hosting environments throughout the Barclays group. A significant part of the role will be driving new standardsfor resilience, working with risk and control teams developing solutions to meet new standards as they are developed. There will also be opportunities for secondments to mission critical programmes throughout Barclays Group with a specific focus on engineeringfor resilience. What will you be doing Innovating resilience by working with controls teams own the Group Resilience Standard and building patterns and reference implementations to support those standards Progressing the organisations development practices and resilience strategy by delivering guidance, patterns, and reference implementations Ensuring best in class application design is baked into group wide mission critical applications Conducting application assessments with confidence, structuring, and owning failure mode analysis assessments across the firm to identify fault-points/modes Developing best practices for architecting resilience applications throughout the Barclays group Documenting best practice guidance and patterns for resilience application design and engineering Publishing guidance in a new group wide content management system for architects and engineers and then supporting engineering teams implement those patterns Seconding to mission critical programmes throughout Barclays Group with a specific focus on engineering for resilience What were looking for: A senior architect with demonstrable experience managing enterprise scale developments Developer experience and understanding in implementing resilience disciplines across a full stack (code, database, network, hosting environment, security, monitoring & deployment) Experience and understanding in deploying applications across multiple datacentres/availability zones/regions Familiarity with resiliency testing techniques such as Failure Injection and Chaos Testing Skills that will help you in the role: Awareness of deployment techniques that limit impact of failure (e.g. blue/green & canary) and enable fast recovery with low MTTD & MTTR Inc. use of playbooks and automation Experience developing solutions deployed across multiple cloud regions, understanding of enterprise patterns, micro services, and passionate view on the future direction of technology This role requires an individual with a track record as an individual contributor as well as proven leadership experience Good communication skills are essential as the role involves dealing with stakeholders, system owners and the departments project managers Where will you be workingYou will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford.
