Job Description

Chemist who has a Chemistry degree with perhaps some experience and who is capable of researching and designing experiments is required to be part of the bigger picture (excuse the pun) and join our team at Harman Technology at our historicmanufacturing site in beautiful Cheshire surroundings.SALARY: £26,361 - £27,912per annum + Benefits (Attractive Hours, Flexible Working, Excellent Holiday Entitlement, Pension and Access to a Range of Staff Benefits)LOCATION: Knutsford, Cheshire, North West EnglandJOB TYPE: Full-Time, PermanentJOB OVERVIEWTo support our growth strategy, we need a Chemist to join our Organic and Emulsion Research section within R&D.Working as a Chemist, primarily you will be based in our Kilo laboratory synthesising specialist chemicals including dyes, couplers, and stabilisers in vessels from 20-250 litres. This will be a hands-on role following SOPs in an environment where safetycomes first.As a Chemist you can expect variation too and to be involved in other activities such as small-scale investigations, polymer latex validation and assisting in our emulsion pilot plant.ABOUT USHARMAN Technology Limited, trading as ILFORD PHOTO, is a global market leader that has acquired over 140 years of specialist knowledge in black and white photographic products and a unique portfolio of equipment, facilities, and expertise. Today, the companyhas a comprehensive service offering: contract coating; converting; warehousing and distribution.CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTSAs a Chemist you will have the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

  • You must have a degree in chemistry, perhaps with some experience
  • Will be able to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Capable of researching, designing experiments, interpreting, drawing conclusions and maintaining records
  • A keen advocate for self-development and innovation. You will be meticulous and have attention to detail
  • Proven ability to communicate both verbally and in written form in a technical context
  • Due to the nature of our business, you would also need to be able to work in safelight conditions and total darkness
