Job Description

MJ Quinn are currently recruiting for the position Head of Operations. This is an exciting new job opportunity that has arose for one of our most established contracts within the company. As Head of Operations, you will be based in our Head office in Knowsley, Liverpool working Monday - Friday 8am -5pm.As Head of Operations, you will be reporting to the Programme Director working as a key member of the senior team, developing strategy, approach and execution of the Service Delivery programme. You will oversee a team of both office and field-based personnel to deliver key performance metrics across MJ Quinn’s Openreach Service Delivery contract. The key deliverables for this post include customer service standard, cost efficiency, P&L accountability, safety and quality compliance, integrity and a full suite of both business and client defined metrics.Leading by example, you will create an environment based on trust ensuring open and honest relationships with team members and realisation of people’s potential, whilst managing multiple stakeholders with our client.As Head of Operations, you will be accountable for running the programme as a full business.Your role will also include:

  • Full and thorough understanding of all workstreams incorporated within the Service Delivery contract.
  • Management of a team of circa 800 individuals, compromising of 40+ field-based managers, 30+ back office staffs, and in excess of 700 field engineers.
  • Provide situational leadership, guidance and support to the whole team by fostering innovation in operational processes and practices to create an environment of shared best practice across the team.
  • Driving HSQE compliance to ensure safety and quality across all workstreams.
  • Driving performance to satisfy a wide range of challenging client and business KPIs.
  • Internal and external stakeholder management.
  • Interface with the client at an executive level to promote the brand and ensure collaborative working.
  • Interpretation and reporting high-level MIS.
  • Identify and execute solutions to operational barriers encountered on a daily basis.
  • Commercial P&L responsibility seeking every opportunity to reduce cost and maximise margin.
  • Although office based in Knowsley, you will be required to periodically visit all patches under your responsibility (UK mainland) to meet with team members and to complete performance management reviews.
  • Essential Experience/Skills and Qualifications:

  • Telecommunications industry knowledge.
  • IT competent, specifically in all MS Office software.
  • Desirable Experience/Skill and Qualifications:
  • Experience of the Openreach Copper and FTTP networks.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in operations management, preferably in an engineering environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (2:1 or above).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
