Job Description

Quality Engineering Manager opportunity near Leeds.Our client is a rapidly developing modular house manufacturing company, already employing 1000+ staff.The Quality Engineering Manager will lead a team tasked with developing their approach, delivering demonstrable improvements in the quality of product from the pre-project phase to customer handover, always ensuring the organisation utilises the correctmethods, skills, tools and materials to meet customer requirements, product specifications, statutory and regulatory obligations.The postholder will ensure their team of nine are deployed to focus on the most important priorities and actively participate in improving capability of process, using information collected from Operations and then applying problem-solving using statisticaland analytical techniques.The Quality Engineering Manager will coach and mentor their team and interface with other key stakeholders to ensure standards are understood and are used to deliver on time and fully compliant product.Demonstrating a passion and enthusiasm for product and process quality, the Quality Engineering Manager will drive quality compliance and improvement by defining the methods used to measure product and process key quality characteristics.Primary Responsbilities:

  • Lead a team of Quality Engineers and Technicians charged with driving improvements in product quality, that meet the needs of customers and external requirements
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining accreditation for M&E functions
  • Act with authority holding the business accountable to quality requirements and verify requirements are being met
  • Coach, inspire and engage employees for growth and high performance to produce the highest level of quality
  • Work with the Quality Systems team to perform internal audits to maintain external certifications and support the ongoing development of our Quality Management System
  • Work with the Change Control Team to ensure new products and revisions to products, processes and materials are appropriately managed into and through the factory and that supporting documentation always supports the correct level of design release
  • Develop and monitor quality metrics and, in collaboration with other stakeholders, drive continuous improvement processes
  • Responsible for a team tasked with the investigation and resolution of non-conformances
  • Drive the adoption of Advanced Quality Planning (APQP) techniques, including risk-assessment, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Standard work and Process Control Plans (PCP) including inspections
  • Assure Quality readiness through the development cycle of new products, their launch, production process and installation at the final location. This will include defining Quality Standards and Quality Inspection Records
  • Develop the adoption of digital solutions to improve the value offer to the organisation
  • Work closely with our warranty providers to ensure continued compliance with the System Manual
  • Define and assure inspection checks for each element through product assembly sign-off to assure the standard work to the design is being met
Qualifications and Training:
  • Engineering or technical degree preferred.
  • Presentation skills/ Training skills
  • Statistical data analysis
  • Additional preferred skills include: ISO and auditing experience, knowledge of quality planning tools & methodologies including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning(APQP), Problem solving skills, Six sigma or statisticalprocess control techniques, capability analysis and lean manufacturing philosophies, project management
  • Driving license
  • Minimum of 3 years quality engineering / quality management
  • Minimum of 3 years in management
  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering or construction environment
  • Auditing to standards
  • Experience within a start-up or rapidly expanding business is an advantage
