Job Description

Mechanical Build Technician / Mechanical Assembly TechnicianKingswinfordPermanent Role£14 - £17 per hour DEOOur Client in the Kingswinford area are looking to recruit a Mechanical Build Technician / Mechanical Assembly Technician this is a permanent opportunity.Salary depending on experience.Position PurposeA member of the Machinery build team who is responsible for the build of sub assembly units. Then the integration of units onto the overall machine builds of Friction welding machinery, which also includes the installation and upgrades on-site at customerslocation UK & Worldwide.Position OverviewTo fit / assemble machine unit assemblies such as Spindles, Clamps, Automation, Lubrication, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and other mechanical sub assemblies, then fit / assemble units within the general assembly of the friction welding machine from the use ofassembly drawings and schematics. To liaise with the build supervisor to make sure that each machine unit/build is on time to the machine build schedule, on spec to assembly and mechanical specifications of the machine, on budget to the estimated hours foreach sub assembly. Be a part of MTIs company initiative of upfront planning, through a series of meetings prior to the project build phase on the release of each unit from the design phase. Review and voice any concerns on each design and also identify allmaterials required to support the Mechanical build sequence.Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  1. Fitting / assembly of various unit assemblies using assembly drawings.
  2. Read Hydraulic, Lubrication & Pneumatic Schematics.
  3. Installation of Hydraulic, Lubrication & Pnuematic systems.
  4. Communicate any problems with parts to build & engineering department.
  5. Onsite installation / upgrades / break downs of machinery at customers premises UK & Worldwide.
  6. Communicate with customers in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
  7. Inspect parts from a drawing using various inspection equipment.
  8. Operate machine shop equipment such as Miller, Lather, Surface grinder ect.
  9. Continuously reviews/improves engineering processes.
  10. Contributes to MTIs Upfront planning initiative.
  11. Helps develop strategies and processes to ensure on-time delivery of equipment, cost reduction opportunities and performance improvements.
  12. Promotes cultural values and behavior in others (Respectful, Purposeful, Integrity, Collaborative, Adaptable, Positive Attitude, Excellence, Effective Communication.
  13. Occasionally supports MTIs Subcontract department with machine break downs and machine operations.
  14. Perform other assignments, as requested by supervisor or manager.
Required Skills and Competencies
  1. Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
  2. Ability to read mechanical drawings and fluid schematics and understand dimensional tolerances.
  3. Mechanical and machining proficiency.
  4. Ability to adapt & learn.
  5. To be able to work as part of a team.
  6. Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  7. Precision and attention to detail.
  8. Strong manual skills.
  9. Excellent mechanical skills.
  10. Good housekeeping.
  11. Flexibility with overtime.
  12. Must be eligible to work in the UK permanently.
  13. Conduct oneself with the highest level of professional and ethical standards.
  14. UK driving license is required
  15. Must hold valid passport as some over sea travel may be involved

Required Education and/or Experience
  1. City & Guild Mechanical Engineering
  2. BTECH Mechanical Engineering
  3. Machine Tool Fitter experience.
  4. Bespoke machine building experience.
  5. Own tools required.
