Here at NorthumbriaPolice, we’ve got almost 2000 police staff working behind the scenes to make our community a safe place to live, work and visit.We have an exciting opportunity to join our Fleet Management Team as a Vehicle Technician, you will be at the forefront of providing an effective and efficient vehicle maintenance and repair service, including installation and maintenance of specialist Policeemergency warning and communications equipment.Our Vehicle Technicians are integral members of our team and have a positive, can-do attitude, ready to take on the unique challenges of working with police fleet vehicles. This is an exciting time to be joining #TeamNP in this role as the force adopts theuse of fleet telematics and moves towards a low emission fleet in the coming years.What you’ll doReporting to the Fleet Supervisor, you will conduct proactive and reactive maintenance on a wide varied vehicle fleet. This will include routine servicing, general repair and maintenance, fault diagnosis, commissioning, decommissioning, installation, andmaintenance of specialist equipment.This requires completion of appropriate documentation and records, all of which must be to a high standard, and an ability to use computerised diagnostic systems, to ensure police vehicles are available for operational use.You will work a 37-hour week, covering the period 08:00 - 16:00 hours, Monday to Friday, with option to work fixed or flexible daily hours. However, occasional flexibility is required of all staff to meet short notice operational requirements, which mayinclude a request to work overtime or additional hours.What you’ll bringExperience of vehicle maintenance and an ability to work well in a team that exists in a fast-paced environment supporting the unpredictable emergency service environment.Possess a Level 2 Automotive Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle), or an equivalent qualification.Just so you knowOur application form will help us understand how your work, education and life experience has prepared you for the role of a {Role Title} with #TeamNP.
