Job Description

Do you want a new opportunity to advance your career within the rail sectorFord & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting a Technical Services Engineer for a reputable train operator based in the South East.The OpportunityOur client is seeking a motivated individual to join a busy time period of growth to provide technical services in their engineering team. In this role you will provide immediate and front-line support to improve productivity, reliability growth and safety management both within the depot facility and for the wider fleet operation.Location (s): KentRole and Responsibilities:

  • Provide a Technical support service to Engineering
  • Develop strategies to improve Technical information flow in order to support and development the fleet according to the business needs.
  • Provide Technical information as required to support productivity regarding maintenance and repair of rolling stock
  • Review in service performance of fleets using management information via the EMS and Condition Monitoring systems, on a regular basis.
  • Work with respective fleet defect controllers (MDC), Planning and Production Delivery Engineers (PDE) as well as Technical Development Engineers to prevent repeat failures occurring and identify emerging trends.
  • Carry out on-going performance analysis of rolling stock fleets as well as target systems to provide up-to-date advice for MDCs, Planning and PDEs, regarding priority for repair and rectification.
  • Develop and implement information and improvement of effective maintenance process or specifications and actions to ensure that efficient repairs can be conducted by the depot facility.
  • Carry out periodic review of maintenance activity to ensure that documentation and maintenance practices deliver effective upkeep and compliance regarding vehicle configuration, modification and safety case status.
  • Provide an on-call Fleet Technical Officer (FTO) incident response service.
    • The CandidateThe ideal candidate will have had previous experience working within the rolling stock industry. You will have had demonstrable hands-on experience working in a depot-based environment with a strong technical understanding of both electrical and mechanical maintenance.As well as being a strong team player, you hold strong communication skills with both colleagues and customers and can be a technical focal point for junior team members.Essentials
  • General rolling stock experience and knowledge of planned maintenance processes and repairs of rail vehicle systems.
  • Knowledge of IT systems, including Windows, Word, Excel, together with a good understanding of mainframe systems, including EMS, TRUST, and hybrid systems such as GENIUS and RAVERS.
  • Good knowledge of rules and regulations, particularly those applicable to DC EMU rolling stock.
  • At least 3 years experience in a T&RS engineering environment.
  • HND / HNC in an Engineering Discipline (or a trainee Graduate Engineer).
    • Desirable
  • Experience of railway rolling stock engineering and operation (preferred)
