A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified Arborist to lead a small team of skilled operatives and to develop the division further. This established and respected company in Kent consists of a dynamic team of professional Landscapers, Designers, Horticulturists, Gardeners, countryside experts and Arborists. The talented team deliver projects, large and small, from conception to completion, all under one roof. A generous salary is offered in line with the successful candidate’s experience, with the opportunity to earn bonuses in line with the successful generation of new business for the division.Due to ongoing expansion, the company are looking for a Lead Arborist / Arboricultural Manager to join the management team on a permanent full-time basis. The role will be to oversee all aspects of the arboricultural division from business growth to team training and direct line management of the arboricultural team on a day-to-day basis.This role will suit someone with extensive industry experience in search of a more technical and office-based transition, yet still willing and able to offer practical support where necessary, alongside on-site management of larger projects.The successful candidate will be responsible for daily management of all teams on sites, staff inductions, recruitment, and development of new arboricultural staff, on-site specific training, staff one-to-one meetings and management of training and development plans. Practical/technical responsibilities will include plant and machinery maintenance, site audits, LOLER management, PUWER management, management of health and safety, site security, inspection, purchase of the team’s equipment when needed, incident investigation/reporting and sub-contractor checks. The Lead Arborist will also be responsible for quoting new jobs and bringing in new work at every opportunity, in line with the continued development of the division and company.Suitable applicants will hold at least a Level 2 academic qualification in Arboriculture as well as applicable industry certifications in line with a full range of physical arboricultural operations, strong tree identification skills, an ability to undertake remedial tree work as specified by survey/report recommendations, a basic understanding of the UK planning framework as it relates to arboricultural operations and associated restrictions, a basic/general understanding of tree pests, diseases and structural defects as they relate to remedial work and the health and safety of operatives.This is an excellent and rewarding opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary company and to grow an established division and utilise a diverse skill set.
