Below are some of the comments from service users our services support:“Changed my life and staff were incredible, faultless, supportive, skilled, lovely and polite”."The therapy that I was provided with was like no other I had received in 30 years”.The National Probation Service (NPS), have partnered with St Andrew’s Healthcare to deliver Community Sentence treatment Requirements as part of a Mental Health Treatment Requirement initiative. This is a unique opportunity to work as an assistant psychologistembedded in probation offices under the guidance and supervision of qualified psychologists from St Andrews Healthcare.Within this role you will support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the Criminal Justice System (CJS); providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist,working independently according to a plan agreed with the psychologist and within the overall framework MHTRs, and St Andrew’s policies and procedures.Due to the autonomy of the role, it is desirable that applicants have some experience working as an Assistant Psychologist before and a relevant Master’s degree in psychology. It is a requirement that they are eligible for Graduate Membership of the BritishPsychological Society.The role will be located across Maidstone and West Kent, offering face to face interventions, though some remote sessions will be offered virtually to meet the needs and preference of clients. Travel outside of Maidstone / West Kent and outside of the mainworking bases is reimbursed separately and is typically required for training.You will facilitate effective communication within the NPS and other agencies that may include: primary care services, specialist mental health services, social care and third sector services to ensure continuity of care across all services.Many assistant psychologists within St Andrew’s Healthcare move on to begin their professional doctorate in clinical or forensic psychology, and remain with St Andrew’s for their placements.
