They are currently seeking a Metallurgy Lab Technician, on a permanent basis, to support the day-to-day operation of the Metallurgical Testing Laboratory.Metallurgy Lab TechnicianJob Description

Metallographic sample preparation and development of methods

Planning of testing activities to ensure business needs are met

Metallographic inspection of samples for defect investigation, process monitoring and new product/process approval

Preparation of metallographic etchants and reagents in line with international standards

Preparation and Approval of technical reports for direct brochure submission

Participation in mechanical testing activities (stress rupture, tensile, hardness, etc.)

Participation in chemical/physical testing (i.e. titrations, wax ash testing, etc.)

Liaising with Internal and External stakeholders at all levels of the business

Undertakes training to perform testing activities using specialised and equipment and techniques. Provides training for others where required

Follow and produce work instructions. Review of customer specifications to ensure all technical requirements are flowed down into laboratory system

Metallurgy Lab Technician Essential Qualifications / Experience / Skills

Time served apprenticeship or HNC level qualification in Materials or Engineering

Experience in Materials Testing within a manufacturing environment

Able to multitask across a variety of sub-departments as and when needed

Exceptional attention to detail

Must be a self-starter and able to work unsupervised at times

Excellent communication skills

Metallurgy Lab Technician Desirable Qualifications / Experience / Skills

BSc/BEng in Materials Science or Engineering
