Job Description

Join the team at Victoria Gardens a 34 bedded psychiatric rehabilitation service in Huyton, Liverpool. The hospital provides rehabilitation programme for male and female inpatients. There are 3 male wards and 1 female ward along with 4 self-contained flats. This role also involves providing specialty doctor cover for Crossley Manor. Crossley Manor is a new service commissioned by Elysium Healthcare in Liverpool. Crossley Manor provides bespoke package of care in two self-contained flats for two individuals with complex mental health difficulties and high dependency needs.Your job will be attached to and supervised by the consultant at Victoria Gardens. You will also receive clinical supervision for your work at Crossley Manor by the consultant attached to Crossley Manor. You will be expected to assist in the day to day running of the unit and the cover for consultant during their absence.You will:

  • Have access to a half day of CPD on Friday afternoons.
  • Be supported for CESR, AC approval, Section 12 (2) status if required, and study leave throughout the year for your appraisal.
  • Have opportunities for research and audit and will have opportunities to feed into a regular monthly medics meeting and to grow your CV.
  • Partake in on call duties with opportunities for voluntary paid extra locum shifts. You will also have time off in lieu for the on calls worked, which can be taken
  • any time of your choosing (as long as cover is in place).
  • Be lunches provided on site free of charge.
    • This Specialty Doctor role involves:
  • Ensuring an adequate handover to colleagues including out of hours.
  • Reviewing the mental state of patients regularly.
  • Ensuring that each patient has a full physical health screen upon admission including physical examination, ECG and bloods (the hospital has some phlebotomists).
  • Taking a lead with managing any physical health concerns that emerge during inpatient stay.
  • Seeking collateral history from other professionals and family.
  • Completing admission/ discharge letters and reports as required in a timely manner.
  • Depending on your experience, preparing reports and providing oral evidence at First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers hearings under the supervision of Consultant.
  • Representing the consultant in their absence
  • Contributing to the service development by participating in Clinical Governance activities by conducting audits, research and teaching.
  • Work effectively with colleagues to ensure that patients have access to appropriate medical cover at all times.
    • To be successful as a Specialty Doctor, youll need:
  • Full GMC registration
  • Experience working in psychiatry within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • To be in good CPD standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and to have had an appraisal within the last year.
  • At least 3 years experience in Psychiatry
