Job Description

H9 Technical Recruitment are hiring for a Lead EC&I Technician to work at our clients Biomass Plant in the Kingston upon Hull areaOverview The Lead EC&I Technician role is a key position within the Maintenance Team at the Operating Asset. You will form an integral part in ensuring the EC&I equipment at the facility is safe, reliable, and fit for service in order to maximise the asset availabilityand profitability. The Lead E/I Technician will take a leading role in the management and execution of work utilising the CMMS, and will actively manage subcontractors working at the asset.Role & Responsibilities

  • Maintenance, calibration and fault finding on electrical equipment and instrumentation at the operating asset.
  • Working in accordance with the client Safety Rules, actively managing the subcontractors with the setting to work process, and operating as an LV Isolating Authority.
  • Operating at all times safely, in line with Core Elements & Expectations, and at all times adhering to the Life Saving Rules.
  • Working with the CMMS (Maximo) to assure accurate maintenance records, and comprehensive asset data information
  • Plan completion of open Work Orders, managing back log in an organised manner.
  • Participate in project support when required, leading commissioning activities and ensuring all of the required engineering documentation exists.
  • Assist with outage planning, scheduling, and generation of any preparatory works as required
  • Proactively manage the asset equipment spares strategy and inventory.
  • Proactively report equipment defects, and suggest remediation and improvement plans.
  • Become an integral part of the Asset Maintenance Team, routinely liaising with other areas of the business to effectively maximise the asset availability and utilisation
  • Proactively provide support to the Management of Change process, raising instances for consideration, and supporting the assessment of other engineering changes when required.
  • Report unsafe acts and conditions within the observation reporting tool, and perform or assist with investigations when requested.
  • Share knowledge with other operating assets and engage openly with Engineering Team.
Qualifications & Experience
  • A recognised technical apprenticeship in electrical, instrumentation, or control engineering, and associated qualifications (HNC / ONC / City & Guilds / NVQ Level3, or equivalent)
  • Ability to act as lead for other technicians, and able to positively influence other team members
  • Demonstrable experience with electrical systems, instrumentation, and measurement equipment
  • Good understanding of DCS/SCADA Control systems, including PID control and different I/O system
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience within another regulated industry
  • Good understanding of Safe Systems of Work and of Risk Assessment processes
  • Experience working within the Waste to Energy sector, or other Power Generation business (desirable)
  • Experience working in areas with potentially flammable atmospheres, under the DSEAR Regulations; ideally attained the CompEx 01-04, or CompEx 05-06 modules (desirable)
