The Port of Hull is being established as a world-class centre for renewable energy and manufacturing, and at AAK we feel proud to be part of this important industrial renaissance for Yorkshire and the UK.At our recently upgraded site at King George Dock we operate the UKs largest refinery for edible oils and fats. We supply businesses in the sectors of food manufacturing, baking, Foodservice and retail, and we work closely with customers to co-develop bespokeproducts.About the roleWe are looking to employ a HR Business Partner on a 1-year fixed term contract (maternity cover) to support the delivery of our end-to-end people agenda at the AAK Hull site. Reporting to the UK HR Manager, you will have a passion for understanding and gettingunder the skin of a manufacturing business, whilst demonstrating excellent critical thinking and decision-making capabilities.Recognised for your agility of thought and influencing ability, you will offer generalist HR expertise and support for the full scope of the HR function, drawing on your colleagues across the AAK group when necessary.Main responsibilities

  • Manage allocated recruitment from vacancy approval to issuing of employment contracts.
  • Conduct reference and right to work checks as part of the onboarding process.
  • Support managers and the wider HR team in the delivery of the performance management cycle.
  • Assist in the annual talent review and succession planning process.
  • Participate in developing organisational guidelines and procedures.
  • Proactively manage sickness absence through effective case management.
  • Provide expert employment law advice and effective employee relation strategies.
  • Participate in the employee communication and consultative committee.
  • Assist in salaries and headcount budget preparation and subsequent monitoring activities.
  • Manage local HR related projects and participate in cross functional activities.
  • Provide HR analytics and Management Information to the Senior HR Business Partner and UK HR Manager as necessary.
About you
  • Strong academic background
  • CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent experience) is essential.
  • A degree in a Human Resource Management or Business Administration is preferential.
  • Associated member of the CIPD and working towards Chartership.
  • Manufacturing and Engineering industry is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong change management skills and shaping cultural change is required
  • Up to date knowledge of employment law.
  • Experience of developing good employee relations.
  • Strong Excel skills including advanced formula creation and use.
