Job Description

Reed Talent Soutions are currently working with a Huddersfield based Local Authority to recruit a Mason on an initial three month contract. The post-holder will be responsible for laying and fitting bricks, stones, concrete blocks and othermasonry materials to create and repair structures. You will also work with other tradesmen, such as carpenters, electricians and plumbers, to ensure the quality and safety of the projects.Role Information

  • Contract Length - 3 months with potential to extend
  • Hourly PAYE Rate - £16.63 (£33,000 salary equivalent)
  • Umbrella Pay Rate - £21.28
Key Responsibilities
  • Cutting, shaping and smoothing bricks, stones, concrete blocks and other masonry materials using hand and power tools.
  • Mixing mortar, cement, sand, water and other additives to create the appropriate consistency and colour.
  • Laying and fitting masonry materials in horizontal and vertical patterns, using levels, plumb lines, rulers and squares to ensure alignment and accuracy.
  • Applying and spreading mortar on surfaces and between joints, using trowels, brushes and other tools.
  • Removing excess mortar and cleaning the finished surfaces, using wire brushes, chisels, hammers and other tools.
  • Repairing and maintaining existing masonry structures, such as walls, chimneys, fireplaces, patios and walkways.
  • Installing and repairing drainage systems, insulation, ventilation and waterproofing systems in masonry structures.
  • Collaborating and communicating with other tradesmen, supervisors, clients and stakeholders to ensure the smooth and timely completion of the projects.
  • Following health and safety regulations and wearing protective equipment, such as gloves, goggles, helmets and boots
