Job Description

Textile OperativesWe are actively recruiting for Textile Machine Operatives on behalf of our client, a multi-award-winning textile manufacturer with two centuries of heritage! Our client creates high quality finishes on an ever-increasing range of fabrics, from the finestworsted suiting, specialised safety clothing and upholstery to public transport.Pay: Starting from £14p/hHours: 6am - 6pm Fri - Sun (Training is mandatory for 3/4 weeks working either 6am - 2pm or 2pm - 10pm Monday - Friday)Job Type: Temporary - Permanent.Duties:

  • Following cut plan and identifying fabric to cut.
  • Moving of fabric rolls and cutting down to required lengths.
  • Sewing up and correctly marking of fabric.
  • Operation of griege room machines, tumbler, bagging and dry cleaner.
  • Re-sewing of Cloth for the tenter.
  • Ensuring Weft is kept straight whilst packaging the cloth for the next machine.
  • Pushing Carts from one area of the factory to another.
  • Ensuring stacking and storage is such that it keeps walkways and access points clear.
  • Following Procedures on Worksheets for different fabric Qualities.
  • Assisting in general preparation duties in the factory.
  • Keeping the machine in a clean and safe condition.
  • Reporting any faults or inconsistencies to management.
  • Adhering to health and safety policies and safe systems of work.
Other duties can range from:
  • lifting up to 25kg (will be a physical role)
  • Loading and unloading wagons
  • General maintenance, keeping workstation clean / maintaining company H&S procedures
  • Reading / working from order sheets
  • Liaising with supervisor and other colleagues within your department
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with machinery within a manufacturing environment.
  • Good attitude toward work with the motivation and willingness to learn and develop.
  • Knowledge / experience within the textile environment advantageous but not essential.
  • During busy periods overtime (early starts / later finishes) are mandatory so must be flexible with working hours.
