Job Description

Learning Curve Groups academies provide real life experience to learners aged 16-19 who are looking to pursue a career in; The uniformed services, Health and personal fitness.We are looking for a Maths and English Tutor to deliver across our academy sites in Leeds, Wakefield, Sheffield and Bradford. You must be comfortable with travel.This role requires you to have a deep understanding of English and Maths and a real desire to transform our learners’ lives. As one of our English and Maths Tutors, you will be working as part of a larger successful team. You will be required to work independently and within a team at a variety of sites within your region and you will be responsible for the delivery of high quality teaching, learning and assessment of English and Maths. The goal is to ensure learners gain the new knowledge and skills required to pass their Functional Skills exams and are ultimately successful in obtaining their qualifications.Essential Criteria

  • Good level of IT Skills
  • Full driving licence
  • Qualified in English and Maths to at least level 4
  • Hold a Subject Specialism in English/mathematics, eg: Level, subject specific degree, Cert.Ed. or equivalent.
  • Experience within a tutor role working with 16+ learners delivering Maths & English
  • Proven track record of meeting targets
  • Experience of working in the training/education sector
  • An ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to a wide range of people
  • Ability to manage a constant workload with conflicting demands to achieve timely targets
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Appropriate professional appearance
  • Well organised and self-reliant
  • Is personable and engaging

  • Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Guide and support learners and their employers in the effective pursuit of their Maths & English individual learning programme and progression planning
  • Support transition activities for learners progressing from their Maths & English programme
  • Adhere to organisational and funding requirements for completion of induction paperwork
  • Maintain regular contact with learners and deliver high quality learning and development
  • Monitor and review programme activity and standards to ensure funding and Awarding Organisation guidelines are met and comprehensive records of participation and outcomes are kept
  • Ensure all learner records and reporting are kept up to date and provided in a timely manner to support management reporting and audit requirements
  • Attend regular team meetings and Moderation/validation workshops.
  • Undertake regular progress reviews and offer guidance to learners on how to improve performance
  • Liaise with other staff to support achievement and the embedding of English and Maths within your contextual delivery
  • Interpret guidelines, effectively plan, implement and review training programmes and assessment tools for nationally accredited qualifications
  • Ensure timely achievements are met, including retention and achievement targets by implementing strategies and supporting learners in self-esteem and confidence-building activities
  • Provide robust exit advice to learners as they set personal goals for career progression
  • Support transition activities for learners moving to Apprenticeships or on to Further Education
  • Collaborate with the Maths and English Manager and the Director of Employment and Skills and pursue opportunities for growth by developing industry links for vocational education and training delivery and promotion of Learning Curve Group’s range of current programmes and services
  • Represent the organisation on public occasions, such as recruitment events and to promote the best interests of the organisation by creating a positive impression of the organisation
  • Maintain strong links with their team members, ensuring all activity is complementary and utilises the existing knowledge, expertise, resources and industry business links within our organisation
  • Take responsibility for the learners FS journey plan, assist admins with booking exams.
  • Manage your own continued professional development through undertaking relevant training and sharing of best practice
