Job Description

Fleet Maintenance Controller(Commercial Vehicle Hire)c£28,000.00 per annum(Negotiable depending on experience)Company Overview:Our client is a well-established company, that have been in operation almost 65 years and are specialists in commercial vehicle rental. Their customers vary from both trade and retail and they have 6 rental depots, with fully equipped maintenance workshopsin the North and South of England; from these depots they operate approximately 2000 vehicles (of which 900 are above 3.5 tons).Job Purpose:Reporting to the Workshop Manager at the Barnsley Depot, in South Yorkshire you will be required to efficiently and effectively manage the day to day bookings of all the planned maintenance of a range of commercial vehicles for the depots workshop, thirdparties and also on-site at customers premises. As Fleet Maintenance Controller (also known in the industry as a Workshop Controller) you will operate an effective system of work in line with the companys policies and procedures including administration,communication and relationship building with internal and external bodiesExperience Required:Ideally 1 year within the motor industry in a similar role such as: Workshop Controller / Fleet Controller / Transport Coordinator / Transport Planner / Service ReceptionistEmployee Information and Benefits:

  • Monday to Friday - Week 1: 7:00 am - 4:00 pm and Week 2: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • 1 in 4 Saturday mornings 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
  • Monthly pay, 30 minutes lunch break
  • 20 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays, holidays will increase by an additional day with every 2 years of service, up to a maximum of 25 days

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Run reports for compliance on all vehicles hired from to the Barnsley Depot
  • Book in all works required on a variety of HGVs, whether it be onsite, at the company depot or with a third party to ensure all customer vehicles are maintained in accordance with their Operators Licence, this will typically be booking inspections on cranesand chassis and any subsequent work required after these inspections have taken place.
  • Ensure all 3rd party supplier paperwork is sent out with complete accuracy with pricing, materials and labour in a timely manner
  • Deal with calls from vehicle breakdowns on a daily basis, and book these to be repaired with the mobile technician and report back any common issues that are found to be re-occurring.
  • Taking accurate pictures of any damages to vehicles that will need to be re-charged to the customer and sending this information across, following up with a call and a PO request and then an invoice
  • Maintain good working relationships with customers and third parties to ensure timely communications for vehicle updates, recharge information and gaining P.O numbers quickly in order for timely invoicing to occur
  • Ensure all pricing agreements are in place prior to work being carried out with third parties, this can be for both parts and labour
  • Ensure all KPIs are met to achieve company bonus
  • Manage the workload for all on site mechanics, ensuring they have a minimum 12 hours rest between each shift and communicating with the customers about the time frame for their vehicles to be fixed and returned/collected
