Job Description

***Please note this vacancy is for SaleCycle, part of the Leighton Group***When joining the engineering team at SaleCycle you will be part of one of our small cross-functional product delivery teams. Our teams focus on delivering solutions that are well thought out, documented and tested. We work in a self-managing structure, and are motivated by delivering rapid and visible business benefit.Our engineers are tasked with developing solutions that can process extreme volumes of events and respond with low millisecond latency. This isn’t an easy undertaking and it requires an in-depth knowledge of a myriad of AWS services and other technologies in order to achieve this.You will work in a highly collaborative Scrum team delivering solutions, empowered to drive delivery of product from start to finish.What’s required

  • Have proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Java, Kotlin, Golang, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Knowledge and experience working with RESTful services and Microservice Architectures.
  • You have a working knowledge of Git and are comfortable having your work peer-reviewed and peer-reviewing others work.
  • You are passionate about developing new projects from the initial concept stages, right through to the delivery of the finalised product.
  • You want to be part of a team that constantly provides feedback to one another, ensuring that the best product is delivered.
  • You are comfortable working in an agile cross functional team, where you are empowered and responsible for building and improving any part of our technical estate.
  • You are firmly committed to ensuring that the services you develop are documented, tested and monitored correctly.
  • You work well as part of a team, are a good communicator, know when to be more/less technical in team discussions, and possess an ability to communicate technical concepts well at a high level.
  • You enjoy learning new languages/technologies as part of their role, and apply the "best tool for the job" approach.
  • You have good problem solving skills and value concepts over specifics, possess critical thinking, and are good at investigating the root cause of problems.
    • What’s desired
  • Knowledge of AWS services including, but not limited to: Lambda, Cognito, ECS, DynamoDB, S3, Kinesis, CloudFormation.
  • Containerisation knowledge (Docker).
  • Experience developing software using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipelines.
  • Have the skills to contribute to our robust automated test suite to support and continuously improve our Continuous Delivery environment.
  • Frontend experience (UI/UX/TypeScript/React/Cypress/Styled Components).
  • Experience of mentoring people within a team environment and is comfortable with sharing their knowledge and further benefiting the team.
  • Experience working with any Big Data technologies would be beneficial.
  • Experience of working with SQL (MSSQL, MySQL or similar) would be a plus.
  • Have knowledge of Apache Ignite and/or Apache Flink - this would be advantageous, however not essential.
  • Experience working with real time or event driven infrastructure (Kafka, AWS Kinesis, or equivalent).
  • Experience working with *nix based systems would be beneficial but not required.
