Job Description

Sarah McKenna HR Recruitment is pleased to be working with the Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust, to support with the recruitment of a People Officer who will provide first line HR advice and administrative support for the Trust.Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust (previously named Northern Saints Catholic Education Trust) was established in February 2016, currently there are twenty-nine schools within the Trust.Based in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle, the Trust has grown significantly over the last two years with a further five schools due to join the Trust this year. This is why they are looking to stengthen the People team with the appointment of a new PeopleOfficer to support the day to day queries into the department.Working closely with the People Team you will provide support for line managers, headteachers, senior leaders, business colleagues and Governors. This will include supporting flexible working requests, initial investigations and absence management, alongsideadministrative support for the people team.The HR Team have recently been rebranded as a People Team, incorporating the HR generalist role and including aspects of culture and organisational development. This provides a unique opportunity for an ambitious people professional to develop their careerin a people focused environment, contributing to improving the lives of our pupils and wider community. This is a fixed term post to 31 August 2023, adding capacity to the People Team at a time of rapid growth.As People Officer you will be responsible for:

  • Providing operational support and advice on first line employee relations matters; advising on policy, leading initial investigations, flexible working requests and absence management
  • Supporting with the review, application and implementation of all people related policies, procedures, processes.
  • Developing templates and documentation to support consistency.
  • Coordinating recruitment and selection processes for the Trust, contributing to the development of consistent documentation, advising on the process and supporting with the interview arrangements were required.
  • Providing administrative support and professional advice on recruitment; supporting Headteachers and business leads with interview arrangements, new starter processes and pre-employment checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education.
Experience of offering first line support on a broad range of HR queries is essential for this position due the size and pace of the organisation.The role will offer you a very interesting opportunity, with the potential to gain additional skills and knowledge, within a small and supportive team where no 2 days will be the same. Although this role is initially a FTC the experience and exposure youcan gain within this time will certainly allow you to take that next step in your development, should the contract come to an end August 2023 as currently planned.This is a full time, Contract until August 2023.Salary - £27,514Hours of work are: 8am - 4pm - Monday to Thursday and 8am - 3.30pm - FridayHoliday entitlement - 25 days plus bank holidays. Please note: As the role supports schools, holidays are restricted to the school holidays.
