Job Description

Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust (previously named Northern Saints Catholic Education Trust) was established in February 2016, currently there are twenty-nine schools within the Trust.Based in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle, the Trust has grown significantly over the last two years with a further five schools due to join the Trust this year.I am pleased to be working with the Trust to support the recruitment of a People Adviser who will advise on all aspects of HR casework, from absence management to restructures. The successful candidate will be required to manage their caseload and work independentlywith support from the Trust People Manager and Chief People Officer.The HR Team have recently been rebranded as a People Team, incorporating the HR generalist role and including aspects of culture and organisational development, which links to the strategic priority of workforce development. This provides a unique opportunityfor an ambitious people professional to develop their career in a people focused environment, contributing to improving the lives of our pupils and wider community.Key areas of responsibility will be:

  • Work with the Chief People Officer (CPO) and People Manager to deliver a proactive and professional HR service for the Trust, leading on the review, application and implementation of all people related policies, procedures, processes and documentation.
  • Provide operational support and advice on employee relations matters; such as disciplinary, grievance, appeals, staffing restructures, TUPE, absence and proactive attendance management.
  • Support the Trust culture development through a positive and people focused employee relations approach; supporting, coaching and supporting the professional development of all stakeholders.
  • Partnering with Headteachers to actively seek and identify opportunities to enhance the education provision within schools and across the Trust and proactively offer a source of professional expertise
  • Working across the region, supporting a number of schools and Head Teachers which brings with it a wide range of challenges, projects and management abilities.
Reporting to the People Manager and working alongside a small team of HR professionals, you will be based at the Trust Head Office, Evolve Business Centre, with a significant proportion of time in schools, which are located in small villages and towns acrossthe region, therefore you must have access to your own transportIf you are a true generalist, with significant experience of supporting complex casework, working with Trade Unions and influencing at Director level and who thrives within a varied and fast paced environment then please do get in touch for further details.This is a full time, permanent contract.
  • Salary - £41,591
  • Hours of work are: 8am - 4pm - Monday to Thursday and 8am - 3.30pm - Friday
  • Holiday entitlement - 25 days plus bank holidays. Please note: As the role supports schools, holidays are restricted to the school holidays.
