Job Description

A senior GL Manager and the number two in the HR team. The post holder will deputise for the Director of Human Resources as well as co-partnering with team on delivery of strategic initiatives. A true HR generalist, providing all-round operational support, progressing organisation development plans to attract and stretch diverse talent and drive staff engagement.You will be the "go to person" for Technology team employees for day-to-day support as well as a key HR contact for all sites, in all aspects of people plans to include recruitment, performance management, learning and development, employee relations and reward. You will also partner with other senior managers across the GL business on a variety of HR and business initiativesAt GL Education, we are passionate about the role we play in supporting schools to ensure that all students reach their full potential. We do this by providing assessment solutions that help teachers learn more about their pupils, so they can find the best way to teach them.The Role:

  • Support the HR Director and wider GL with strategic decision making, including company growth and acquisition activities
  • Support the HR Director and wider team on pay and reward strategy and programmes
  • Develop and maintain strong, dependable relationships with stakeholders and be viewed as a trusted and specialist advisor
  • Lead and contribute to OD and change management projects while keeping efficiency at peak
  • Develop the Development recruitment and retention strategies using innovative approaches to attract the best diverse talent and drive Houghton retention activities
  • Coach managers to enable them to drive effectivity, staff development and performance management programmes
  • Advise on employee relations cases, interpreting and guiding on employment legislation to achieve best practice and facilitate resolutions.
  • Work with the Technology leadership team to build development plans to grow technical and leadership capability
  • Update and advise the HR Director and CTO with monthly people related KPIs
  • In conjunction with the Technology leadership team, lead on Technology staff engagement initiatives to drive the performance culture
  • Collaborate with and support the development of the HR team, mentoring and sharing best practice

  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence at all levels; achieving buy-in and engagement
  • Able and willing to travel to other offices on a regular basis
  • Flexible approach to working hours and practices
  • Be a strong role model and an ambassador for HR
  • Previous senior HR generalist
  • Previous experience in working in technical/software development sector
  • Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel and PowerPoint, with an ability to produce HR information and data, and use initiative to present metrics in a meaningful way.
