Job Description

What you need to know:The Special Educational Needs schools that we work with support young pupil’s to develop their emotional wellbeing and social skills. As an Autism Support Assistant you will assist with supporting students to cope better with the tasks and activities they find challenging. The successful Autism Support assistant will help establish positive and healthy relationships, emotional wellbeing and developing social skills. This is an ideal opportunity if you are looking for a change and have a keen interest in special needs.We are looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about providing the highest standards of care and facilitating opportunities for learning. Previous experience of looking after children with autism would be an advantage however a can-do attitude and commitment to the children and your team is equally as important.Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Support children with autism and help them reach their potential in a professional and caring manner
  • Be reliable and punctual
  • Actively plan and join in play and youth activities including swimming, ball games, messy play and music
  • Be prepared to communicate differently with a wide range of people
  • Show resilience when placed in a variety of situations, some which may be challenging!
  • Keep records and write reports when required
  • Ensure the highest level of safety and safeguarding at all times
  • The Role:Applicants will be working in a classroom supporting a Teacher and fellow Teaching Assistants on a 1:1 or group basis with pupils, supporting the teacher with preparing and implementing each learners education and development plan.The working hours will be between 8:30 - 15:30, Monday - Friday. Full time is preferredbut part time applicants may still apply.Salary will be discussed during the interview process.All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
