Job Description

Velocity is sourcing for a very successful expanding, International logistics organisation as they continue to develop their existing services. They are now seeking to appoint an experienced Freight Forwarding Manager with knowledge of International cargoexports and imports, working with air/shipping/road freight and general parcel carriers. Managing and organising relationships with custom clearance agents in the UK and overseas and liaising with our registered Kenya office.In this role you will be:

  • Managing operations across all International freight options – groupage and full loads
  • Negotiating and pricing contracts with a variety of freight movements, offering quotes and support with technical guidance for purchasing inbound and outbound freight and customs
  • Actively working to grow the division through an existing client base and potentially own clients
  • Investigate and plan appropriate routes for cargo taking into account perishable/hazardous goods, costs, time and security and recording the data accurately to meet customs and insurance requirements
  • Be the Senior site security representative taking lead with the CAA ensuring shipments remain SPX and dangerous goods.
  • To provide support as and when required across all business functions
You will need the following experience and skills:
  • Significant experience and knowledge in International freight forwarding operations
  • Knowledge of customs requirements and regulations for International movements
  • Comfortable negotiating contracts with various agents
  • Strong knowledge of conditions / regulations (CMR, RHA, AWBs etc)
  • Excellent customer service skills and abilities
  • Flexible and positive, relationship building can do attitude
