At Brilliant we are recruiting for a Childrens Residential Team Leader to join acommunity of loving people, dedicated to supporting and caring for young individuals.Our client is a relatively new company but they really mean business when it comes to changing lives and are strivingto change the way Children are looked after.Our client runs acreative service that develops and adapts to meet the young persons needs and achieve positive outcomes. WHAT WERE LOOKING FORThis role is based ina beautiful large rural farm in Holmfirth, focusing on children with Complex needs, learning disabilities and or Neurodevelopment disabilities. The age range of children are between 7-18 and the home takes long term placements, to allowthe home to achieve more positive and long term outcomes.The plan is develop the site in to a nurturing and therapeutic space for young people to thrive. We are also looking to incorporate animal therapy and possibly looking at getting chickens and small pets - therefore a hands on approach to animal welfare isrequired. There is also a hot tub, full size snooker table, stables and a barn function room for parties.We aim to deliver and achieve an outstanding service for children to thrive, and therefore we need committed, compassionate and caring individuals. The children we are working with have learning disabilities, have communication difficulties and sensory andcomplex needs, therefore a high level of patience, resilience and creativity is essential. We also need staff to have some understanding of what drives behaviours and have a mindset that behaviour can be changed.We use Positive behaviour support approaches to understand the form and functions of behaviours and reduce behaviours that challenges. Positive behaviour support experience would be advantageous but is not essential as full training will be given.Given the complexities and trauma of the young people we look after we often see behaviours that challenge and therefore a high level of commitment and resilience is required. As a provider we will provide a safe, secure and high staffing ratio to ensurethat the staff and young people are kept safe and deliver outstanding care. THE IDEAL CANDIDATEThe role of a Team leader involves managing a team of support workers, running shifts, developing and supervising staff and generally taking a lead of the day to day running of the home. A Team Leader is also required to oversee safeguarding matters andtake action to ensure that young people and staff are kept safe. They will be involved in creating and following risk assessments and care plans. Team Leaders should be professional, committed, ambitious and a good role model to support workers. They shouldhave a solution focused approach and be a strong problem solver. This role would be a great opportunity for an experience support worker looking for their next step or someone with staff management experience that is looking for a move into a quality servicewith excellent prospects.The job may require staff to partake in high energy activities at times but it is also important that staff create a nurturing and homely environment. So a diverse team is needed.The job is high paced role and therefore the applicant needs to be fit and active.Please note the role requires staff to work a rota that consists of days, evening, weekends and bank holidays. In addition staff will be required to complete sleep-in duties as part of the role (Paid at £45 per sleep)Level 3/4 Diploma in Residential care is advantageous.A good level of IT and admin skills is essential.
