Job Description

Exemplary Independent School (SEMH) located in Haringey (Highgate) is currently recruiting for a full time & permanent Learning Mentor. This role is to start either immediately or January 2021 (for the right person).Dedicated, innovative, inclusive and outstanding Independent School that caters to SEMH pupils who have been diagnosed with mild SEMH (anxiety). This is a small but rapidly growing Independent School and an excellent time to come on board with such an excellent employer! The CEO and founder is a true inspiration & visionary and has a successful Senior Leadership Team. Staff at this school are outstanding and have a true understanding of SEMH pupils and how to ensure that they reach their true potential. All pupils who attend this school are on EHCPs, so it is imperative that any new staff have great experience, knowledge and understanding of EHCPs and SEN students.Permanent and full time opportunity for a Learning Mentor who is either in a similar post OR has been a SEN Teaching Assistant (minimum of 4 years) / Mentor / HLTA. You must have worked in either a provision/PRU/ independent school or mainstream school with SEMH pupils. It is imperative that you have worked with children and young people on a 1:1 basis and within small groups. You have assisted children with their academic learning, you are able to build a strong rapport, can engage them well and able to alleviate children who suffer with anxiety! This vacancy is 40 weeks in the year (pro rata of FTE).

  • You are either currently a Learning Mentor OR an SEN TA (minimum 4 years) / HLTA / teaching Assistant / Mentor
  • You must be empathetic, passionate about working in with SEN pupils, resilient, pro-active and able to build a strong rapport with pupils
  • Worked with young people on a 1:1 basis and small groups
  • Your SEN Experience; must include either ASD/ ADHD / SEMH / Children with anxiety
  • You are focused on helping a child academically with their work
  • Worked with children in a support role at either primary and/ or secondary ages
  • Dedicated to safeguarding pupils
  • MUST live close to Highgate to be considered.
