Due to continued growth our client situated in Heywood are looking for the following: Transport Manager* JOB PURPOSETo safely and effectively manage drivers, fleet, 3rd Party Logistics providers, budget, IT and other resources in a customer focused and cost efficient manner to meet business requirements and support profitable growth. To identify risks, issues and exploreopportunities, and deploy innovative solutions and techniques to improve Logistics service offering.This role will report directly to the Multi Site General Manager, but will have a close relationship with the Warehouse Manager as well as the Sales Office and Bathshop321 management. Reporting to this person will be 16 employees.* KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES1. Efficiently plan and route up to 15 vehicles daily using Transport Routing Software Map Mechanics and Transend. Vehicles generally are multi-drop (up to 25 drops per day) with some full load/bulk requirements.2. To ensure all communication devices are in use and are being used correctly and in full to the benefit of the operation (PDAs)3. To oversee cost control and KPI performance, actively seeking to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs whilst meeting budget as a minimum4. To manage 3PL providers by controlling expenditure, service excellence and purchase order management along with POD retrieval5. To have appropriate controls and procedures in place to manage all aspects of customer service and communication6. To be customer obsessed by understanding and appreciating customer requirements and quality standards in order to exceed customer service expectations.7. Maintain an excellent working knowledge of transport legislation and requirements for the best practice relevant to the transport industry.8. Ensures that all Health & Safety are adhered to including H&S induction and training, operating procedures, risk assessments and near miss reporting / emergency procedures9. Oversees vehicle management (owned/leased) by conducting safe vehicle operational checks, including tyres, bodywork, fluids, etc10. To plan driver resource strategically to maximise capacity and utilisation of the fleet whilst reducing labour costs11. Ad-hoc projects to work on from time to time and undertake other reasonable duties as required by Senior Management12. To implement continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to improve processes, reduce costs whilst striving to enhance customer experience.13. To be flexible and be able to offer support to other Branches in the event of increased demand / sickness, etc* GENERAL1.
