Job Description

Job Title: Emergency DispatcherLocation: Hellesdon, Norwich (NR6) Hourly Pay Rates:Weekdays: £12.86Saturdays and Nights: £16.72Sundays and Bank Holidays: £20.58Length of the contract: Temporary to Permanent (12 weeks probation via agency including 4 weeks of training)Shift Pattern: Working both days and nights on a weekly rotation, Monday to Sunday. Rotas will be issued 4 to 6 weeks in advance. Shifts are 12 hours long.Gi Group are now seeking to appoint a number of Emergency Dispatchers for our Public Sector clients site based in Hellesdon, Norwich. Our client provides healthcare services for Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. The positionis temporary to permanent with a 12 week probationary period which would be worked through Gi GroupDuties of the Emergency Dispatcher

  • Form part of a team of Emergency Dispatchers who each provide management of front-line resources over a specific geographical area, covering as a whole, the East of England region, on a 24/7 basis (365 days per year) working rotating shifts. This team sitsacross three EOCs and where business continuity requires, there may be temporary movement of staff from one EOC to another.
  • Have an understanding and appreciation of the model of high performance ambulance design to support and enhance effective and efficient utilisation of resources.
  • To manage and deploy resources to (and during), emergency, urgent and routine incidents in accordance with national and local policy, procedure and protocol. This may include Double Manned Emergency Ambulances, Single Responders, Operational Managers, CommunityFirst Responders, Air support, Emergency Care Practitioners (ECP), Intermediate Tier Ambulances, Patient Transport Services (PTS), and Private Agencies. There will also be incidents which require the attendance of Emergency Doctors, Trauma Teams and CriticalCare Teams with extended prehospital skills.
  • Manage and communicate with operational staff by assigning them to emergency, urgent and routine incidents and stand by points, using the system status plan as a guide to where resources should be positioned.
Qualifications
  • 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (or an equivalent qualification) including English.
  • Driving License.
  • First Aid/First Person On Scene Qualification.

  • At least 2 years experience within a customer care environment.
  • Keen interest in IT.
  • Ability to read maps.
  • Good listening skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Accurate data input.
