CK Science are recruiting for an Assistant Laboratory Manager to join a textiles and fabrics manufacturing company at their site based near Manchester on a full time, permanent basis.The Company:Our client is looking to appoint an Assistant Laboratory Manager to be responsible for 3 staff, and possibly more in the future. This person will report to the Laboratory Manager and salary will be circa £30-35,000 per annum depending on experience. Hours of work are 07.30-16.30 Monday to Friday and the company offers 25 days holiday + bank holidays, as well as pension scheme, life assurance, private medical, income protection and free on site parking. Please note that direct experience of managing a laboratory is essential as is having managed other team members. Location:This Assistant Laboratory Manager role is located near Manchester and is commutable from surrounding areas including Ashton, Levenshulme, Stretford and Hazel Grove.Assistant Laboratory Manager Role:Your main duties will be to:- Assist the Laboratory Manager in the running of a busy colour fabric coating laboratory.- Ensure all routine analysis work is fully documented in accordance with company procedures in a clear and logical format.- Introduce new documentation systems and procedures where required.- Take responsibility for the correct implementation of recipes and procedures for the production mixing plant.- Ensure correct training with the production managers and operators in the safe handling of chemicals and materials and the use of PPE where applicable.- Assist in the introduction of new formulations, products and procedures, on the coating and mixing plants.- Assist the colour chemists and Q.C. team with Q.C. systems and procedures within the laboratory and production environments.- Manage the day to day operations of the laboratory staff to support progressive actions on projects and efficient completion of tasks.- Monitor and liaise with the production regarding chemical stock inventory, storage requirements, and the safe storage of chemical products within the warehouse in collaboration with the warehouse manager.- Ensure an accurate and current database of chemical technical information is maintained.Your Background:The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and experience:- Previous experience of running a laboratory and managing other staff - essential.- Industrial experience of having worked in or closely liaised with the plant/ production - essential.- Proven industrial experience in laboratory systems and procedures is essential.- Full colour vision is essential.- Recognised qualification in textile or polymer chemistry, ideally to degree level.- Colour chemistry experience in a textile manufacturing environment preferred.- Knowledge of polymer coating chemistry and application thereof would be advantageous.- Evidence of strong analytical skills.For more information or to apply for this Assistant Laboratory Manager position, please contact CK Group, quoting job reference 47942.It is essential that applicants hold entitlement to work in the UK.
