Job Description

Tester - Manufacturing & Engineering - Haydock, St Helens - Up to £35,000About the CompanyWorking from their manufacturing facility in Haydock - the business design, manufacture and distribute low voltage switchgear products for commercial and industrial applications around the world. They are specialists in the custom design of electrical switchgearand have the skills and manufacturing facilities within a fully integrated engineering team to manage projects from initial design and evaluation through to final inspection.Tester - Requirements

  • Previous experience essential within the switchgear industry.
  • Responsibility to test and commission completed projects prior to dispatch. Via visual, continuity, insulation resistance test (1000v) and Di-Electric test(2500v) to company And issue completion documentation.
  • Must have a knowledge of electrical products and equipment including automatic changeover controls, REF relays, PFC systems and a working knowledge of BS EN 61439
  • Apprentice trained and qualifications to equivariant NVQ Level 3 Essential, to be competent in electrical testing within the electrical industry with relevant qualifications.
  • You must have a safe working knowledge of all test equipment, hand tools, power tools (including drills and jigsaws) and the use of appropriate PPE.
  • When not testing the role will include working on the shop floor and will be to the standards listed below.
Tester - Responsibilities
  • Responsibility to build panel products individually and / or part of a team which meet the company and client expectations in cost and quality to give the company a competitive edge in the marketplace
  • Enclosures Ability to interpret technical drawings and 3D visuals from the supplier / company. Using hand and power tools assemble enclosures to a quality standard at a satisfactory work rate.
  • Backplates and from a general arrangement drawing interpret and mountings position components. Mark off for drilling and / or Tapping and final mounting of components, trunking, DIN Rails etc ready for final wiring.
  • Panel Wiring From a schematic, engineering drawing or Photograph, interpret and produce wiring sets and looms to meet the requirements as set out by the Engineering Manager and company standards.
Tester - (Desired but not essential)
  • Coppers Capable of interpreting an engineering drawing and from that and physical measurement cut to length, bend and punch copper from copper bar or flexible copper strip.
