Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Husbandry Officer tojoin our team in Stockton-on-Tees. You will join us on a full-timebasis (35 hours per week). Containerships is also a European leader insustainable transport thanks to its fleet of LNG powered vessels and trucks.The Husbandry Officer role:The Ship Agent is responsible for acting as a representative of the vessel operator at the UK port of call and is the first point of contact for a vessel scheduled to arrive at port. The Ship Agent is responsible for pre-planning, organising, overseeing andcoordinating all aspects of the port call, from making berth arrangements and marine services ahead of the vessels arrival to finalising the call post sailing. The Ship Agent liaises with the relevant port authorities and terminal operators locally, as wellas with CMA CGM Group head offices to ensure all parties are kept up to date with the ships movements and productivity/progress throughout its stay in port.Main responsibilities include:

  • Make all arrangements for CMA CGM Group operated vessels to berth and sail on schedule.
  • Board vessels on arrival (24/7) and during their calls as and when necessary.
  • Handle all documentation associated with vessel calls and provide to authorities as necessary.
  • Keep vessel Master, ship manager and all interested parties informed of vessel prospects
  • Arrange delivery and collection of ships spares and supplies.
  • Arrange transport and accommodation for on/off-signing crew.
  • Assist the Master of the vessel with any other requirements.
  • Issue light dues certificates.
  • Identify any opportunities for cost-savings or operational improvements.
  • Liaise regularly and develop good working relationships with terminal operators, port authorities and service providers.
Skills & qualifications required of ourHusbandry Officer:
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent in English speaking.
  • High level of numeracy/literacy and attention to detail.
  • Computer literate and fluent in use of MS Office applications.
  • Able to work as part of a team and unsupervised, sometimes under pressure.
  • Well organised and able to prioritise own workload.
  • Good decision making skills.
  • Full driving licence holder
  • Previous ships husbandry knowledge or experience is an advantage.
  • Qualified to GCSE level or equivalent (Grade C/equivalent in English and Mathematics
